Eligibility to receive Unemployment Insurance (UI) benefits is dependent upon your showing that you have made a reasonable effort to find work each week.
You may be required to register for job search assistance with the Division of Employment and Training (DE&T), and make an independent search for work each week which could result in your obtaining employment. (For DE&T contact information, go to: http://www.delawareworks.com/emptrain/contactus.shtml.)
If unemployment insurance claims personnel refer you to DE&T, you must report immediately and participate in any registration process, testing or training that is deemed necessary. Failure to participate, or refusal of a reasonable job referral or job offer may result in a denial of unemployment insurance benefits.
You are required to report at least one work search contact each week, and indicate the employer name, address, type of work sought, result of the contact, and the date. (This information is completed in item 8 on the back of the weekly pay authorization form.)
Failure to make an active work search during a week will result in ineligibility to receive benefits for that week.
A "Work Search Log" is provided by the Division of Unemployment Insurance to note the employers contacted each week the claim is active.
