The Department of Rehabilitative Services (DRS) offers a range of employment services to Virginians who have severe disabilities. These services include:
· Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) Services: DRS's VR program assists Virginians with disabilities in their efforts to prepare for, find, and keep a job.
· Supported Employment for Individuals with Physical Disabilities (SEPD): DRS's Supported Employment for individuals with Physical Disabilities program provides long-term support to Virginians with physical disabilities who need such support in order to work in integrated, competitive employment.
· Transitional Employment Program (TEP) Services: Transitional employment means a series of temporary job placements in competitive work in integrated work settings with on-site or off-site ongoing support services for individuals with the most significant disabilities due to mental illness.
NOTE: For information about other employment program options such as Long Term Support Funding and programs for specific disabilities, go to: http://www.vadrs.org/employment.htm.
DRS will not fund many services if funding for comparable services is available through other government agencies, health insurance, or employer benefits. See Comparable Benefits Policy for more information and exceptions to the policy.
