For purposes of determining financial eligibility for Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and General Assistance (GA), Gross Income is defined as Unearned Income plus Earned Income minus Excluded Income.
Gross Income is compared to 185% of the Standard of Need for the size of the TANF Assistance Unit. Note that the Earned Income Disregards are not subtracted when determining Gross Income. (See TANF Income Eligibility for details.)
Gross income is not used in determining GA - Financial Eligibility; rather income after subtracting exclusions and disregards is used. (See General Assistance Income-Eligibility for details.)
