DE TANF - Income Limits

This topic provides Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) tables used in determining eligibility and benefits. There are tables below for the current year and previous years.

The following income limits are used in computing income-eligibility and the grant amount for:

Standard of Need: The Standard of Need is 75% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL).

185% of the Standard of Need: If the non-excluded gross income of the TANF Assistance Unit exceeds this limit, the unit is not eligible for TANF cash assistance.

Payment Standard: The Payment Standard is the maximum grant amount for the Family Budget Group.

NOTE: There can be more than one Assistance Unit in a Family Budget Unit -- in which case the sum of the grants to the Assistance Units cannot exceed the Payment Limit for the size of the Family Budget Group.

See TANF - Income Eligibility for more on determining income-eligibility.

See TANF - Grant Amount for more on computing the cash assistance amount.
