VA Consumer Service Fund (CSF)

Virginia Assistive Technology Loan Fund Authority (ATLFA) logoThe Virginia Assistive Technology Loan Fund Authority (ATLFA) administers the Consumer Service Fund (CSF), which is a special state fund that enables individuals with physical or sensory disabilities living in Virginia to access services and devices that cannot be funded through existing programs.

Human Services Advocates may apply to this "Fund of Last Resort" for individuals needing to overcome funding or eligibility barriers. The CSF requests should be only a portion of an overall, coordinated service plan with inter-organizational commitments, which will support the consumer in attaining one of the following objectives:

·             Enhance the self-sufficiency of an individual with a disability by substantially increasing or building on his or her capacity to carry out the full rage of personal activities of daily living.

·             Establish or preserve the capacity of an unsalaried caregiver to continue as a primary support to an individual with a disability.

·             Directly prevent placement of an individual with a disability into an institutional setting such as a nursing home, psychiatric hospital, or other facility.

·             Enable an individual with a disability or an unsalaried caregiver to achieve an employment outcome.

Eligibility

People of any age living in Virginia who have a demonstrated physical or sensory disability are eligible for funding if their disability-related needs exceed the scope or capacity of service agencies.

Cost

Consumers awarded funds will be required to share in the cost of the requested services based on their ability to pay; that is, they will be asked to participate financially.
