You have indicated that you are not currently working, because you have no earned income from wages, salary, or self-employment. If this is not correct, go back to the Input screen and correct your answer by following this procedure:
1. Under the Earned Income Information section, answer Yes to the "Earnings: Do you have any income from wages, salary, or self-employment?" question.
2. Then enter the monthly amount you earn (if you receive SSDI), or the monthly amount you receive (if you receive SSI) in the question that follows.
3. Finally, review the text outputs for recommendations specific to your actual situation.
If you actually are unemployed, and you are willing and able to work (even part-time), then WorkWORLD can assist you in determining what the consequences of employment might be. WorkWORLD is designed to help you explore and understand how to best use the work incentives associated with the various Federal and State disability and poverty benefit programs. You can begin to do this by following this procedure:
1. Create a New Situation by clicking the New Situation icon on the Toolbar or choosing Situation, New from the Main Menu.
2. If you have only entered one situation, the new situation will be based on it. Otherwise, choose the column containing this recommendation as the column on which to base the new situation. (The new column will contain the same answers as the chosen column until you make changes.)
3. Go to the top of the new column. Enter a situation label such as "Start Working."
4. Under the Earned Income Information section, answer Yes to the "Earnings: Do you have any income from wages, salary, or self-employment?" question.
5. Then, in the question that follows, enter the monthly amount you think you could earn from a job (if you receive SSDI), or the monthly amount you believe you could receive from a job (if you receive SSI). Use the estimate button to indicate this amount is your best guess.
6. Finally, review the numeric and graph outputs for changes to your net income and benefits, and the text outputs for additional recommendations specific to your actual situation.
