All income available to the household, from whatever source, is counted and verified at initial application and re-certification when determining a household's eligibility and benefit level for food stamps. Changes in income must also be certified; these standards are covered in 106 CMR 366.120.
Documentary evidence is the primary source of income verification. Earned income is verified through documentation provided by employers, self-employment income is verified by business records, tax returns and other appropriate documents, and unearned income is verified by awards notices and records provided by appropriate agencies.
TAFDC, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), and/or EAEDC households that are categorically eligible do not have to meet gross or net income eligibility standards for Food Stamp Program purposes (see 106 CMR 365.180).
Complete requirements for verification of income for food stamps eligibility and benefit level are covered in 106 CMR 363.210.
