EAEDC - Vocational Factors Affecting Eligibility - Massachusetts

If an EAEDC applicant or recipient does not have an impairment(s) under the medical standards (specified in 106 CMR 320.210) or an impairment(s) included in the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) Listing of Impairments (specified in 106 CMR 320.200(A)(1)(b)), a disability evaluation is used to determine if the applicant or recipient has an impairment(s) that:

·      Can be documented by medically acceptable clinical and/or laboratory diagnostic techniques

·      Is expected to last for at least 60 days

·      Has more than a nominal effect on the applicant's or recipient's physical and/or mental capacity to perform one or more basic work activities on a sustained basis

Specific procedures and definitions are used to determine eligibility for EAEDC using vocational factors. An evaluation of work capacity is done to determine whether the individual’s physical or mental condition(s) substantially reduces or eliminates the ability to work. In addition to evaluation and verification of specific medical and clinical factors, other factors such as age, previous work experience, and the availability of suitable work in the regional area are considered in this determination. People who are considered disabled according to the prescribed criteria of the evaluation may receive EAEDC (See 106 CMR 320.220, below, for details).
