If you are getting an SSDI (Title II) check based on your earnings record -- and the fact that you have a disability or are blind -- then usually that check amount is your Primary Insurance Amount (PIA) minus the Medicare Part B Premium. Your PIA, that is, is your SSDI check amount plus the Part B Premium amount.
NOTE: If you have Medicaid coverage, then Medicaid pays your Part B premium. Many States offer other programs that pay your Part B premium.
Your check amount could be different, however, if it is being decreased because of Workers Compensation or other public disability benefits, or if it is being changed because of previous under- or over-payments.
Your actual benefit amount will be shown in your original award letter from SSA. If it has changed, the new amount will be shown in the letter SSA sent you to notify you of the change. These notification letters are discussed in a separate topic, "SSA Award Letter & Notice of Change".
If you do not know how much your PIA is, and if you think that your check amount is being changed because of Workers Comp or previous Under/Over Payments, contact your SSA Claims Representative to find out your PIA. Otherwise, enter your check amount.
