Contacting the Social Security Administration

NOTE: The Social Security Administration (SSA) is unable to provide help, information, or technical support about the WorkWORLD software program. If you need technical support for WorkWORLD, see the WorkWORLD Web site at this URL: http://www.WorkWORLD.org/.

Please contact SSA (see below) only for information about the benefit programs it administers, your personal benefits or earnings situation, or other Social Security Administration matters.

Social Security Administration logoIn many localities, you can find the telephone number for your local Social Security Administration (SSA) field office under the United States Government listings in the white pages. If there is no field office listed near you, you can use the free 800 number listed below, or find information on the SSA World Wide Web site.

When contacting one of SSA's field offices about any of the various SSA work incentives, it may be advantageous to ask to speak with one of the Work Incentive Liaisons (WIL). In conjunction with an Area Work Incentives Coordinator (AWIC), the liaisons provide improved services and information on SSA's employment support programs to beneficiaries with disabilities who want to start or keep working.

The following information is from the Social Security Administration Web site at this URL: http://www.ssa.gov/.

SSA Information by Telephone

You can get more information about Social Security matters 24 hours a day by calling Social Security's toll-free number, 1-800-772-1213. You can call for an appointment or to speak to a service representative between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on business days. The lines are busiest early in the week and early in the month so, if your business can wait, it's best to call at other times. Whenever you call, have your Social Security number handy.

If you have a touch-tone phone, recorded information and services are available 24 hours a day, including weekends and holidays.

People who are deaf or hard of hearing may call the toll-free TTY number, 1-800-325-0778, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on business days.
