Alert - Ineligible for SNAP (Food Stamps) Due to Net Income

Your household's net income exceeds the limit allowed by the net income test. Therefore, your household is not eligible to receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, formerly Food Stamp Program) benefits.

Under certain conditions, the net income test is not required. You should insure that you entered your household's information correctly if your household is categorically eligible.

Your net income is reduced when your gross income is reduced. You should make sure that it is being reported correctly. Some circumstances may mean that not all of your gross income is countable. These include:

· Failure of an employer to pay you wages you earned.

· Meeting the conditions of special State incentive programs, such as Connecticut's disregard of income earned by TANF recipients under certain conditions.

· Use of a PASS by SSI recipients.

Your net income is calculated by subtracting allowable deductions from your gross income. Be certain that the data you entered is correct for these deductions:

· Child Support,

· Dependent Care,

· Earned Income,

· Excess Medical,

· Excess Shelter, and
