TANF Recipient Disregard (Connecticut) - SNAP (Food Stamps)

In the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, formerly Food Stamp Program), Connecticut disregards the earnings of TANF household members if the combined earnings do not exceed the Federal poverty level for the household's size. Once the earnings exceed the Federal poverty level, then they are counted in their entirety.

NOTE: WorkWORLD will use the information you provide to automatically determine whether the earnings of household members who receive TANF should be counted or excluded for households residing in Connecticut.

To manually determine whether the earnings of TANF recipients in your Connecticut household will be to counted or excluded, follow these steps:

·        Add the sum of wages and salaries for every employed household member who receives TANF.

·        Compare the result with the maximum allowable figure found in the table containing figures for 100 percent of poverty level for your Food Stamp household size.

·        If the sum of all salaries and wages is greater than the number shown in the table for your household size, the earnings of the TANF recipients must be counted.

·        Otherwise, the TANF recipients' earnings may be excluded from your household's total earnings.
