Net Income - SSI and SSDI Numerical Results

"SSI/DI Net Income" is a WorkWORLD term. It is not a term used by the Social Security Administration (SSA). WorkWORLD allows you to make meaningful comparisons of your income and expenses across different situations by showing you – in the Numerical Results section – your unearned income, earned income, and your work expenses and employability investments.

WorkWORLD then allows you to compare across situations the results of subtracting those expenses and investments from your income. WorkWORLD calls those results your "SSI/DI Net Income."

NOTE: WorkWORLD does not automatically take into account any income taxes you may have to pay. If you want WorkWORLD to subtract such taxes in calculating SSI/DI Net Income, include your estimates of those taxes in your answers to the question, "How much of these other work expenses do you have?"

Remember, however, that if you have a child or are 25 years old or older, your Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) may reimburse you for most, if not all, of the federal taxes that are deducted from your pay check. (The reimbursement is higher if you have children.)

You may, of course, want to subtract other fixed and variable expenses when determining the kind of "net income" that is important to you in making decisions concerning employment. You can use the Windows Calculator to compute such "net income."
