MassHealth Standard - Financial Eligibility

This topic provides the income standards applicable to eligibility for the MassHealth Standard Program.

Income Standards

The gross countable monthly income (after any excluded income but before taxes and deductions are subtracted) for all those in your MassHealth family group is compared to MassHealth Income Limits as follows:

·   Adults with disabilities: Your family's monthly countable income can be no more than 133% of the Federal Poverty Level.

NOTE: You are eligible for MassHealth Standard coverage regardless of your family countable income if you are eligible for a Supplemental Security Income (SSI) cash benefit or the SSI work incentive called 1619(b).

·   Pregnant Women and Children under age 1: Your family's monthly countable income can be no more than 200% of the federal poverty level. If you are pregnant, your unborn child (or children) is counted in your family size, which means there are at least two people in your family.

·   Children aged 1 through 18: Your family's monthly countable income can be nor more than 150% of the federal poverty level.

·   Parents or caretaker relatives of children under age 19: Your family's monthly countable income can be no more than 133% of the federal poverty level. A caretaker relative may choose whether or not to be part of the family.
