GA Ticket to Work Program

Icon of Ticket to Work program, showing stylized admission ticket with text 'Ticket to Work'. The Georgia Department of Labor's Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) Program implemented the Ticket to Work Program in November 2002. The program is one of the major provisions of the Ticket to Work and Work Incentives Improvement Act of 1999 (P.L. 106-170, or TWWIIA).

The basis of "Ticket to Work" is a document (the "Ticket ") received by clients who receive SSI and/or SSDI who may be interested in working. The Ticket program provides SSI/SSDI recipients the opportunity to achieve steady, long-term employment by providing them greater choices in receiving the services they need to go to work and/or to increase their earnings from work without fear of losing their health care coverage. Individuals receiving a Ticket will be able to take their Ticket to SSA approved employment networks for services, one of which is the Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Program.

SSI recipients and/or SSDI beneficiaries who are considering or actually participating in the Ticket Program may also find these related services useful:

·               GA Protection and Advocacy Services

·               Client Assistance Program (CAP)

·               Benefits Planning, Assistance & Outreach Projects

·               Benefits Navigator

·               Protection and Advocacy for Beneficiaries of Social Security (PABSS)

The Georgia Department of Labor, Vocational Rehabilitation Program prepared a brochure that describes the Ticket Program in Georgia. It provides a brief summary of the Ticket Program, and gives complete telephone and Internet contact information for all the agencies involved.
