Food Stamps - Employment and Training Program Exemptions - Massachusetts

Members of a household that is receiving food stamps may be exempt from the requirements of the Employment And Training Program. For example:

· Any person younger than 16 years of age or older than 60 years of age

· Persons who are physically or mentally unfit for employment, either permanently or temporarily

· Persons who are physically or mentally unfit for employment due to a temporary illness

· Any Food Stamp Work Program participant

· Any TAFDC/EAEDC Work Program participant

· Unemployment Compensation applicants who are participating in a work program

· A parent or other household member responsible for the care of a dependent child under six or a dependent household member

· Persons enrolled at least half time in any recognized school, training program or institution of higher education

· Persons employed or self-employed if working a minimum of 30 hours weekly or receiving weekly earnings equal to or greater than the federal minimum wage multiplied by 30 hours
