Certain circumstances are good cause reasons for an individual to not meet Food Stamp Employment and Training Program requirements. Verification must be provided when any of the following apply:
· When suitable State-standard child care is unavailable
· When the individual encounters a personal or family crisis or emergency situation that demands attention during hours of employment or work program activity.
· When the employment or offer of paid employment is at a wage level below the higher of either the applicable federal minimum wage, the applicable state minimum wage, or is 80% of the federal minimum wage, if neither the federal or state minimum wage applies to the job
· When the employment or offer of employment is discriminatory
· When employment is not available due to labor stoppage
· When employment causes unreasonable risk to health or safety
· When the employment situation interferes with the member’s religious observances or beliefs
· When the employment or Food Stamps Employment and Training site would require travel time in excess of two hours, or if walking, the round trip distance is more than two miles
· When the Food Stamps Employment and Training Job Search Program costs exceed reimbursement
