The total documented value of countable liquid and non-liquid assets owned by a household must not exceed $3000 for any household with at least one member with a disability, or aged 60 or over. The limit is $2000 for all other households.
These asset eligibility standards are applied to non-categorical TAFDC, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), and/or EAEDC households, and households that are not receiving public assistance benefits. TAFDC, SSI, and/or EAEDC assistance units that are categorically eligible do not have to meet asset eligibility standards. The assets of a household member who receives TAFDC or SSI benefits, and who is not a member of a categorically eligible household, are exempt for Food Stamp Program purposes.
