Dependents - Section 8

A "Dependent" is defined as:

"A member of the family (except foster children and foster adults) other than the family head or spouse, who is under 18 years of age, or is a person with a disability, or is a full-time student."

In calculating your family's Adjusted Monthly Income (and thus the amount of rent and utilities you have to pay) your Public Housing Agency (PHA) deducts $480 for each dependent from your gross non-excluded income.
