Resource Eligibility for Medicaid in Delaware depends on the Medicaid Covered Group under which you receive (or would like to receive) Medicaid coverage.
Resource eligibility for Medicaid under the SSI-Related Covered Groups is based on the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) Resource Limits that have, since 1989, been $2,000 for individuals and $3,000 for couples.
There are no longer any resource limits in Delaware for the Medicare-Related Covered Groups.
There are no resource limits for Medicaid under the FPL Related Covered Groups.
NOTE: Although there are no resource limits for Medicaid eligibility for 18-year-old recipients of General Assistance (GA) , their resource-eligibility for GA is determined using the more restrictive GA Resource Eligibility rules. If they become ineligible for GA, however, they may still be eligible for Medicaid under another covered group.
Most of the AFDC-TANF Related Covered Groups have no resource limits.
The exceptions:
· General Assistance (GA) recipients aged under age 18 are limited by the GA Resource Limit of $1,000. (Those who lose GA eligibility because of resources may be eligible for Medicaid under another covered group.)
· Medicaid eligibility for Pregnant Women under the AFDC-TANF Related Covered Groups is based on whether or not the woman would be eligible for TANF if the infant were born and living with her. To be eligible for TANF, the woman and infant would have to meet the TANF Resource Eligibility limit of $1,000.
NOTE: Because of the restrictive resource limit and the stricter income eligibility rules under the AFDC-TANF covered group for pregnant women and infants, most pregnant women and infants receive Medicaid coverage under the FPL-Related Covered group.
· Medicaid eligibility for both Foster Children and Infants Awaiting Adoption is based on the TANF Resource Eligibility limit of $1,000.
