VA TANF - Financial Eligibility

In order to meet the financial eligibility requirements for Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) eligibility, your TANF Assistance Unit (AU) must have Gross Countable Income that does not exceed the Maximum Income Limit for the size of your AU and for your locality.

In addition, your Assistance Unit's countable income (which excludes three earned income disregards not excluded from Gross Countable Income) must not exceed the TANF Standard of Assistance for the size of your AU and for your location within Virginia.

NOTE: TANF and TANF-UP recipients who participate in the VIEW program have their continued financial eligibility and grant amounts calculated using formulas different from the above. See VA VIEW - Grant Amount Calculations.
