A TANF-UP assistance unit is required to include one able-bodied natural or adoptive mother and one able-bodied natural or adoptive father, with at least one child in common and all minor siblings of that child who meet the VA TANF - Eligibility requirements.
If one or both parents are incapacitated (that is, they meet the VIEW exemption criteria for incapacitation), the case is a TANF case, not a TANF-UP case.
NOTE: Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Social Security Disability Income (SSDI) recipients are automatically considered incapacitated according to TANF Policy Manual Section 901.2D and therefore meet the VIEW Exemption criteria.)
If the only child in common is ineligible due to the VA TANF - Family Cap, the assistance unit is still a TANF-UP assistance unit.
