TAFDC - Time Limits to Benefits - Massachusetts

Non-exempt grantee(s) may receive TAFDC assistance for a maximum of a cumulative 24-months in a continuous 60-month period. A household is receiving TAFDC if it:

· Receives a direct TAFDC cash grant

· Has a family member(s) participating in the Full Employment Program or in supported work

· Receives TAFDC cash benefits through vendor payments

Waivers of the rules are possible in certain situations and extensions can be granted at the discretion of the Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA) office. The time limit affects only cash benefits--the family remains eligible for Food Stamps and MassHealth coverage.
