SSI State Supplement - Montana

Image of the Montana State Flag. The flag is blue with a gold fringe on the top and bottom edges. The word 'MONTANA', in gold letters is positioned above the Montana state seal, which is centered on the blue field and depicts some of Montana's beautiful scenery and reflects the pioneering history of the state. A brilliant gold sky with white clouds and white sunrays over snowy mountains, forests, cliffs and the blue and white Great Falls of the Missouri River serve as the background for a pick, a shovel and a plow. These tools represent Montana's mining and farming past and present. The state motto 'ORO Y PLATA' (Spanish for Gold and Silver) is displayed on a ribbon at the bottom of the seal. Montana is sometimes called 'The Treasure State,' and the name Montana is the Spanish word for mountainous. The flag was adopted in 1905, and amended in 1981 and 1985.Montana provides State Supplements to Federal SSI benefit payments for residents in one of the living arrangements specified in the table below.
