SSI State Supplement - District of Columbia

Image of the District of Columbia (Washington, D.C.) flag. Without either a local or self government, the District of Columbia was very slow to develop a flag of its own, so a government commission was formed in 1920 to find a design. The final design was based on the shield from the coat of arms used by George Washington, with two red bars placed horizontally on a white field, leaving three white bars, and three red stars placed horizontally in the upper white bar. The flag was adopted in 1938.The District of Columbia provides State Supplements to Federal SSI benefit payments for residents in one of the living arrangements specified in the table below.

The Social Security Administration (SSA) provided the data shown in the table. Contact your local SSA Claims Representative for further details about eligibility and benefit levels. See the topic "Contacting the Social Security Administration" to find out how to get information or help from SSA.
