Gross household income is income from all sources of the head of household and spouse, and each additional member of the household, who is at least 18 years of age or who has been emancipated prior to the age of 18 by virtue of guardianship or parenthood of child(ren) or who is participating in the Transitional Housing Program prior to the age of 18, anticipated to be received during the 12 months following admission or re-determination of household income.
The household's anticipated gross household income cannot be less than the then current gross household income. If gross household income actually decreases, procedures are available to re-calculate the monthly rent the tenant must pay for public housing.
The following income is included in Gross Household Income
· Payments in lieu of earnings, such as unemployment compensation, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Social Security Disability Income (SSDI), other Social Security benefits, and benefits in lieu of earnings under disability, health and accident insurance and worker's compensation, including any retroactive amount due to the delayed start of any such payments. Payments from the government, subsequently reimbursed to the government, are not to be included as income.
· Regular payments or receipts of gifts, child support, alimony, and any other regular contributions to the household.
· Interest, dividends, and net earnings of any kind from real or personal property, including interest on lottery winnings, insurance settlements, gifts, inheritances or other similar receipts.
· Regular payments of public assistance, other than the value of coupon allotments for the purchase of food (Food Stamps).
· Payments for the support of a minor, including payments nominally made to a minor for his or her support but controlled for his or her benefit by the head of the household, spouse or other member who is responsible for his or her support, such as foster care, social security, or public assistance.
