Note - Zero Allotment but Otherwise Categorically Eligible for SNAP (Food Stamps)

Based on the information you supplied, your household is otherwise eligible for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, formerly Food Stamp Program), but your monthly SNAP (Food Stamp) allotment is zero.

The amount of your allotment is based on your household size, net income after deductions from gross income, and the State in which you reside.

Your actual allotment is determined by subtracting 30% of your net income from the maximum possible allotment for your household size. Income tests are based on Federal poverty levels, while allotments are based on Federal Thrifty Food Plan costs. Because these two numbers do not always track exactly, it is possible to both satisfy the net income requirements of the Food Stamp program and have a calculated allocation of zero. This occurs for a small number of higher-income households when 30% of the maximum allowable net income is greater than the maximum allowable allotment.

Due to your household's categorical eligibility, your household was not required to satisfy several tests normally required to determine eligibility:

·        Gross Income Test (if no household member is elderly or has a disability)

·        Net Income Test

·        Resource Test
