You can name a new file, or rename a file that you have opened by using the "Properties" command. You can also add such optional information as your name (Consultant) and, if different, the SSA beneficiary's (Customer) name, as well as the beneficiary's Social Security number or coded ID number. If you save files for several different people, adding their names to the files so that the program can display them will help to prevent confusion about which file is which. We strongly recommend that you enter the name and Social Security number of each person for whom you create a file.
NOTE: Confidentiality and Personal Identifiers
As the end-user of WorkWORLD, you must determine what policies and procedures are appropriate, necessary, or required to maintain and comply with any confidentiality, privacy, and data collection guidelines that may be applicable in your situation.
See the topic "Confidentiality and Personal Identifiers " for more information.
When you enter the information, the File Name and Customer Name will appear on the status bar at the bottom of the main WorkWORLD screen. This information will be displayed each time the file is opened:
If you do not enter any properties information, after creating a new file and each time you open that file, the status bar at the bottom of the main WorkWORLD screen will show "Not Named" for the file and customer names:
To enter any of this information, from the main menu click on "File" and then "Properties…". (Or hold down the "Alt" key and press "F" and then "R".):
or + ,
This will call up the File Properties window:
Type in the information.
Accept the information by clicking on "Okay", or by pressing the "Enter" key.
Or you can cancel by clicking on "Cancel" or by holding down the "Alt" key and pressing "C".
NOTE: A file, consultant, or customer name can contain up to 50 characters, including spaces. It cannot contain the following eleven characters:
\ / , . : * ? " < > |
The Consultant Name field is "remembered" and becomes the default once you enter information into it and click the "Okay" button. This means that the next time you open the file properties window, the last name you entered into the consultant name field will already be entered. You can enter a new name at any time to change the default consultant name, but you must save the current file in order to save the new properties information with the file. The default consultant name will always be the last name entered.
NOTE: If you rename a previously saved file using the "Properties" command and then save it, you will replace the saved file with the renamed file. If you want to keep both the old file and the new one, use the "Save As.." command to save a renamed copy of the file rather than the "Properties" command.
Remember that naming the file does not save it. If you exit WorkWORLD by using the Windows exit button (the "X" on the upper-right side of your screen) you may lose any new information you entered. On the other hand, if you close the file, attempt to open another file, or exit WorkWORLD using "File", "Exit" from the main menu, you will be prompted to save the file if you have not already done so:
