Households that receive Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Food Stamps, and certain needs-tested Veterans' benefits are categorically eligible for LIHEAP.
Households must not exceed allowable liquid resource levels in order to be eligible for the program. The value of liquid resources (cash, bank accounts, certificates of deposit, and stocks or bonds) cannot exceed $2000 for one person, $3000 for two persons, and $50 for each additional person in the household.
