Numerous sources of income are excluded when calculating household income for the purpose of LIHEAP eligibility. Following are some of the key exclusions:
· Educational grants that are contingent upon regular attendance at school
· Loans, regardless of use
· Indian payments, including funds held in trust and interest or investment income accrued on such funds
· Benefits from State and Community Programs on Aging (Title III)
· Unearned income received by a TANF child
· Work-related expenses applicable under the TANF program
· Job Training Partnership Act (JTPA) earned income received as wages, not to exceed six months in any calendar year
· Payments for supportive services, such as foster care
· Earnings of a minor dependent child who is a full-time student
· The first $50 of child support
· Government rental or housing subsidies, i.e. Housing and Urban Development (HUD) support
· Medicaid Buy-in Premium
