Individuals who are both elderly and disabled and whose disability prevents them from purchasing and preparing food for themselves may be counted as a separate Food Stamps unit (along with spouse and children) if the others (not counting the individuals and their spouses and children) have gross incomes less than the maximum amounts.
See the Food Stamp Income Tests topic for a table showing the current maximum Gross Income Eligibility Standards For Households Where Elderly Disabled Are A Separate Household based on Assistance Unit (Household) size.
