DART First State has a number of programs of special interest to job-seekers:
· Job Works!: New hire job applicants can get free bus transportation to and from job interviews;
· Get-A-Job, Get-A-Ride: New hires can get 3 weeks of free travel to commute to and from work.
· Regional Programs: Off hours transportation, shuttle services, affordable vehicles and more.
JOB WORKS! is a statewide program established by DART First State to give people free transportation to and from a scheduled job interview. The interview must be arranged through an agency that provides job placement.
To enroll in JOB WORKS!, agencies must send DART First State a letter on agency letterhead. The letter must include an agency contact name and telephone number. Once DART First State receives this information, a supply of daily passes will be issued to the agency.
When the agency sets up an interview for a client, one daily pass can be given to the client for transportation to and from the interview. For tracking and auditing purposes, the agency will be asked to fill out tracking sheets which include the name, address, and telephone number of the interviewee. Bus pass serial number and the date of issue also need to be recorded.
If the same person has multiple interviews, the offer still applies; therefore, it is necessary that the agency fill out a tracking sheet each time a daily pass is issued, in order to account for all passes. Agency representatives are asked to send in their tracking sheets on the first day of each month.
To enroll, employers must send DART First State a letter, on company letterhead, stating that the new employee has been hired. The letter must include the following information:
Name and home address of new employee
Start date
Work schedule
Work address
Employer contact name and telephone number
Once DART First State receives this information, a 21-day pass, along with general transit information, will be sent to the employer to give to the new employee when they start work. If the employee resigns or is terminated from employment before receiving the 21-day pass, the employer is asked to return the pass to the DART First State Marketing Department.
