DE Child Care Subsidy - Provider Payment Rates

The Division of Social Services (DSS) has established rates that are the maximum amounts that it will pay providers of child care services.

There are tables below for the current fiscal year as well as previous fiscal years.

Parent/caretakers will need to know these rates and whether or not the provider is willing to accept them. If the provider is willing, DSS will pay the provider directly (less any child care fee that the parent/caretaker must pay).

If, as is likely, the provider charges more than the DSS maximum -- and the parent/caretaker cannot find a different provider who will accept the rate -- the parent/caretaker can make an arrangement with the provider to pay the amount the provider will accept.

In that case the parent/caretaker pays the provider and submits an original receipt to DSS for reimbursement. The parent/caretaker, however, will only receive reimbursement up to the DSS Provider Payment Rate (less any child care fee that the parent/caretaker must pay.)
