After you complete your nine-month Trial Work Period (TWP) and three-month Grace Period, your SSDI (Title II) cash benefit will stop for any month in which you have countable earnings that exceed the Substantial Gainful Activity (SGA) amount. You should be aware that the cash benefits of others who receive benefits on your earnings record will also stop during those months.
You should also be aware, however, that your eligibility for SSDI cash benefits and free Medicare will not be affected by your earnings for at least 36 months following the end of your TWP. This period is called your Extended Period of Eligibility (EPE). During your EPE, you will get your cash benefit for any month in which your countable earnings do not exceed SGA; and so will others who receive benefits on your earnings record.
