Medicaid Program - Eligibility for People Who Are Blind and Disabled - Oklahoma

People who are blind or disabled may be eligible for Medicaid.

People with disabilities must have a physical or mental impairment, a disease, or loss that appears reasonably certain to continue at least 12 months without significant improvement and that substantially impairs his/her ability to perform labor or services and engage in a useful occupation.

Individuals with central visual acuity of 20/200 or less in the better eye with use of a correcting lens meet the standard for categorical eligibility.

Disabled and blind recipients in certain counties may be eligible for SoonerCare.

The recipient's monthly income must be less than certain specified amounts. These limits, based on who the recipient lives with, are the same as the State Supplemental Payment (SSP) limits, and may be found in Oklahoma DHS Appendix C-1 as Schedule VIII.A.

NOTE: These figures are adjusted annually and are changed in January of each year.

Applicants must also meet resource limits to be eligible for Medicaid.
