FIP recipients who fail to sign a Family Investment Agreement or who sign an agreement but fail to follow the terms of the agreement will be choosing a Limited Benefit Plan.
The first Limited Benefit Plan creates FIP ineligibility until the person who chose the Limited Benefit Plan signs a Family Investment Agreement.
A subsequent Limited Benefit Plan chosen by the same person (or by either parent in a two-parent FIP case) creates FIP ineligibility for a minimum of six months. To regain FIP eligibility after the six month-period has ended, the person or persons who chose the Limited Benefit Plan must:
· Sign a Family Investment Agreement, and
· Complete 20 hours of PROMISE JOBS activity, other than unpaid work experience or community service.
While in a Limited Benefit Plan, the following persons are ineligible for FIP assistance:
· The person who chose the Limited Benefit Plan
· The person’s children in the home
· The children’s other parent in the home, or
· Any other child on the case who is in the person’s care.
While in a Limited Benefit Plan, the family may still qualify for food stamps and Medicaid.
FIP recipients who are exempt from referral to PROMISE JOBS and volunteer to participate in the program are not subject to the Limited Benefit Plan.
