Educational Income Exclusion (Delaware) - SNAP (Food Stamps)

Delaware has opted to exclude educational assistance income for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, formerly Food Stamp Program) the same way as for its TANF and Medicaid programs. This includes both normal educational assistance income as well as work-study educational income. No educational income is counted as either earned income or unearned income.

Do not count educational financial assistance received from school grants, scholarships, vocational rehabilitation payments, Job Training Partnership Act payments, educational loans, and other loans that are expected to be repaid as income. Exclude any other financial assistance received that is intended for books, tuition, or other self-sufficiency expenses

A provision under the Farm Security and Rural Investment Act of 2002 allows States the option to exclude certain types of income that are not counted under the State's Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) or section 1931 Medicaid.

Consequently, if your household resides in Delaware, WorkWORLD does not ask you questions about educational assistance.
