The need for child care assistance is determined by assessing whether the child or parents of the child meet one or more of the following requirements:
· Employment. Families are eligible for child care assistance when the parent or parents are employed.
· Training. Families are eligible for child care assistance when the parent or parents are enrolled in an approved training program.
· Formal education program. Families are eligible for child care assistance when the client is enrolled in a formal education program.
· Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Work activity. . Families are eligible for child care assistance when the client is enrolled in a TANF approved training program.
· TANF applicant job search. Families are eligible for child care assistance when the client is looking for a job. Child care for job search is limited to only those hours the parent is actively looking for employment and travel time.
· Food Stamp Employment and Training (E&T) recipients. Families are eligible for child care assistance when child care services are necessary for the parent or caretaker to participate in the E&T activities.
· Protective or preventive child care. Families are eligible for child care assistance when intervention is needed in certain critical situations to help in preventing neglect, abuse, or exploitation.
· Child with disabilities. Families are eligible for child care assistance when a child with disabilities is receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI), SoonerStart early intervention services, or special education services provided in accordance with an Individualized Education Program (IEP) by the local school district.
