Child Care Assistance Financial Eligibility - Iowa

Child care services are provided without regard to income for:

·           Families with a child with protective needs.

·           Participants in PROMISE JOBS-approved activities.

·           Recipients of Family Investment Program (FIP) benefits.

·           People whose earned income was considered in determining the needs of a FIP recipient.

For all others, financial eligibility is determined on the basis of gross countable income other than excluded income and on family size. (See: Child Care Assistance Countable Income, Child Care Assistance Excluded Income, and Child Care Assistance Family Size.)

Families are financially eligible for child care services when their monthly gross income, according to family size, is no more than the following amounts in year 2001:

For Column B, add $ 440 for each additional family member over 8 members.

Column A on the Monthly Gross Income Chart represents 140% of the federal poverty guidelines for the year 2001. Use this column to determine income eligibility for all families applying for or receiving Child Care Assistance except for families applying for or receiving Child Care Assistance for a child with special needs.

Use column B for special needs families. Column B represents 175% of the federal poverty guidelines.
