Households may be authorized by the local housing authority to transfer from one public unit to another if there is good cause. The unit may no longer be of appropriate size, or there may be a documented medical impairment that may be substantially improved by moving to another unit.
Transfers for good cause may be made between units for elderly/handicapped housing and family housing if it is not possible to transfer to a unit of appropriate size in the same type of housing.
To be considered for a transfer for good cause, applicants must file an application, with supporting documentation, to the local housing authority, must be current with all financial obligations with the local housing authority, and must not have committed any serious lease violations in the past two years, or be currently subject to eviction.
A tenant must accept a written transfer offer from the local housing authority within seven (7) days or be removed from the transfer list. The tenant will then not receive priority or preference for placement for three (3) years unless decided otherwise by the local housing authority.
