Workforce Development - Work Opportunity Tax Credit Target Groups - South Carolina

Employers may hire from among these groups of job seekers to qualify for the Work Opportunity Tax Credit:

·      Any member of a family that received Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) for a total of at least 9 of the 18 consecutive months before the date of hire

·      Veterans

·      18-24 year-old Food Stamp recipients

·      18-24 year-old residents in federally designated Empowerment Zones or Enterprise Communities

·      16-17 year-old Empowerment Zone or Enterprise Community residents who have been hired as Summer Youth Employees

·      Individuals with disabilities referred to the employer by South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation Services

·      Ex-felons who are members of a low-income family

·      Individuals who have received Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits for any month during the 60 days before the date of hire
