Many women veterans in Massachusetts are eligible for primary care and specialized treatment in areas such as gynecology, contraception and family planning, osteoporosis, post-menopausal care, and urology through the Women’s Health Centers in VA medical facilities. The centers also evaluate and treat women for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and sexual trauma.
Most women discharged under honorable conditions are eligible for care. Spouses of 100% service connected veterans (non-veterans who have CHAMPVA benefits) are usually eligible. There will be no charge to you if you require care for a service-connected disability, if your income is below a certain level, or if you have CHAMPVA benefits. Under the Eligibility Reform Act, veterans are now entitled to a comprehensive benefits package. Health Benefits Advisors are available to answer your questions to determine the extent of your eligibility.
Each VA medical facility has a women's center or clinic to provide primary, preventive, and gender specific care. Each medical center has a Women Veterans Program Manager who can answer your questions and assist you with enrollment. This list was current as of 05/31/2006.
