Veterans' Services - Pension Buy-Back Benefit - Massachusetts

Massachusetts Veterans who are employed by state government and certain other governmental units for more than 10 years are eligible to buy back up to 4 years of active service (accrued at the rate of 1 year for every 1 year of active duty service) or 4 years of active reserve service (accrued at the rate of 1 year for every 5 years of active reserve service) so long as they are not already retired, have not already received credit pursuant to the law, and are not already receiving a federal pension.
