In the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, formerly Food Stamp Program), a vehicle is any motorized vehicle reasonably associated with the function of transporting persons or goods. Common vehicles are passenger cars, trucks, motorcycles, motorbikes, jeeps, campers or trailers, boats, vans, sports utility vehicles, and aircraft. Vehicles are a type of personal property, and as such may be counted as part of a household's resources.
Recent rule changes at the Federal level have given States new options to determine how to count and/or value vehicles as resources when determining eligibility for the SNAP (Food Stamps) program.
See the topic Vehicles (State Rules) - SNAP (Food Stamps) for information about the specific rules used in your State.
