VA Student Earned Income Exclusion - ABD Income Exclusion - Medicaid

When determining Medicaid income eligibility for Aged, Blind and Disabled (ABD) Covered Groups:

·             Up to $1,700 per month, but not more than $6,840 in a calendar year, of the earned income of a blind or disabled student under age 22 who is regularly attending school can be excluded as a Student Earned Income Exclusion (SEIE). (These are the amounts for 2012. They are normally adjusted each year according to a Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA). These amounts were $1,640 monthly and $6,600 annually in 2011.)

NOTE: This exclusion is different from the Student Earned Income Exclusion for F&C Covered Groups. That exclusion applies to students under 19 years of age and it excludes all of the student's earned income. See F&C Earned Income Exclusions.
