Note - More Bedrooms than HUD Standard

Your rental unit has more bedrooms than is standard for the size of your family unit. See Family Size and Number of Bedrooms for a table of Family Size versus Number of Bedrooms.

NOTE: Your Public Housing Agency (PHA) may deviate from HUD's guidelines. If your PHA says that a different number of bedrooms is appropriate for your family size and composition, ignore WorkWORLD's Text Results concerning number of bedrooms.

Since you are participating in the Section 8 Tenant-Based Voucher program, you are not restricted to rental units of the appropriate size. Your family may choose to remain in the unit or find a smaller unit. If you choose to stay in the larger unit, the Housing Assistance Payment (and thus the Family Rent to Owner) will be calculated using a Payment Standard based on your family size, not the number of bedrooms in the unit. This means that your family will probably pay a higher rent than you would have to pay in a smaller unit.

Contact your PHA if you want to find and move to a smaller rental unit.
