HCBS Waiver - Client Participation - Iowa

"Client Participation" is the amount that a recipient is required to contribute to the cost of waiver services. Calculate the Client Participation for waiver recipients as follows:

1. Determine the total gross monthly income for the applicant only. (Income from a parent or spouse is not considered available to the waiver recipient; deemed income, therefore, should not be included.)

2. Subtract 300% of the SSI benefit for one person. (Use the full Federal Benefit Rate (FBR) even if the waiver recipient's FBR is decreased because of in-kind support.)

3. If the applicant receives Veteran’s aid and attendance or has income from a medical assistance trust, add those amounts last.

4. The result is the Client Participation amount.
