This topic provides a list of the many services available to job seekers at each of the local Georgia Career Centers. The One-Stop Career Centers were created under the Workforce Investment Act, which prompted a new approach to delivering employment and training services throughout Georgia. For information about finding the Center that serves your locality, see the Career Center Locations section near the end of this topic.
General services provided by the local offices include:
Weekly monetary assistance to eligible unemployed workers.
Over 170,000 job openings each year.
Ready to assist with job search activities.
Current information on job seeking strategies.
Computer software and books for developing resumes and cover letters.
Up to date computer based information on job search techniques, along with the latest books and videos.
Help with job choices and employment planning.
Employment trends, job outlook, and wage information.
Tips on stretching your income during unemployment.
Training opportunities for individuals who meet criteria for Federal training programs.
In addition to the general services, local offices provide the following services for specific customers:
Specialized veteran staff to provide employment assistance to all military veterans.
Assistance program for individuals who are unable to obtain commercial bonding required by employers.
Information and referral to agricultural jobs in certain areas of the state.
If you are unemployed, you may be eligible for unemployment insurance benefits. To file a claim, visit the nearest Career Center.
