The South Carolina Department of Social Services (SCDSS) will not increase benefits to an eligible family as a result of a child born to that parent 10 or more months after the family begins to receive Family Independence Program (FIP) benefits.
SCDSS may provide benefits for a child born after 10 months in the form of vouchers that may be used to pay for goods and services for the child, as determined by SCDSS, that permit the child's mother to participate in education, training and employment related activities.
