Family & Children Medical Assistance Coverage Groups - Iowa

·           Family Medical Assistance Program (FMAP): Children to age 18(sometimes 19) and parents or specified relatives

·           Medicaid for People Who Are Ineligible for FMAP:

·                        Due to Residence in a Medical Institution: Would be eligible for FMAP if not in a medical institution

·                        Due to Receipt of Support (Extended Medicaid): FMAP recipients who become over income due to child or spousal support; limited to 4 months

·                        Transitional Medicaid for FMAP recipients who become over income for eligibility due to employment; limited to up to 12 months. (See also: Medicaid for Employed Persons with Disabilities (MEPD))

·           Child Medical Assistance Program (CMAP): Children under age 21 who are income eligible for FMAP but don’t meet FMAP requirements of deprivation or living with individual other than parents or specified relative

NOTE: As of January 1, 2001, Deprivation of Parental Support is no longer an eligibility criterion.

·           Mothers and Children (MAC) Program: Pregnant women, infants and children up to age 19. Higher income limits than FMAP; Higher resource limits than FMAP for pregnant women; no resource limit for infants and children

·           Those in Foster Care or Subsidized Adoption

·           People in a Medical Institution Within the 300% Income Limit

·           Presumptive Eligibility for Pregnant Women:
